  “Caterpillar Summer” by Gillian McDunn This is a touching story of a mother and her two children Cat (11yrs old) and her brother Chicken (7 yrs. old). Their father died when they were little. So, Cat had to take care of her brother a lot. They had been planning a three-week summer vacation to visit some friends that lived in Atlanta. The mother had some work there to do. So, once they arrived in Atlanta the vacation plans had changed the family that they were visiting had to go out of country. So, their mother had to make a quick decision where to take the children to stay because she had to do some work in Atlanta, and she could not leave the kids by themselves. The children are force to go stay with the grandparents in North Carolina on an island who they had never seen or knew about them.     The Strangers” by Margaret Peterson Haddix. The story is all about adventures, plots, and mysteries. This story involves three children and their mother. The children names are Chess, Emma, and Finn. The story starts out where the mother is in the kitchen on her laptop and the kids come in and find their mother in a daze. The kids hear a voice saying that three kids in Arizona had been kidnapped. The strange thing about it the kids in some way had the same names as Chess, Emma, and Finn. And what made it stranger they all had the same birthdays. Mom tells the kids that she must go out of town to do some work and they will be staying with a lady that they do not even know. As the story goes the kids find that the mother is into something that she might not know how to handle the situation. With the help of the daughter of the lady that is watching them the kids set off to find their mother. They find their mother’s phone with pre-recorded messages to the kids as well ...

This is a story about a sheep that would sit up on the hill and watch the birds fly. He decides that he wants to build a machine that would fly. He goes to a wolf and asks him if wants to help him. The wolf at first hesitated but then decides to help. They start planning and designing their machine to fly. They got some fabric that they made into wings, a box for them to sit in with wheels. They set off to try it out and as they take off, they noticed that the fabric wasn’t strong enough to hold them up. The wolf told the sheep it didn’t work. They gave it a try again, and this time they tried it with balloons instead. They started to fly when a flock of birds flew by and popped all the balloons bringing them down. The sheep didn’t want to give up and convinced the wolf to try one more time. This time the sheep told the wolf to cut out a tail of a dragon and he would cut out the head of a dragon. It is a story of a little girl and her dog. She sets out to make a magnificent thing. She and her dog go out to the neighborhood to collect items that she will need. She starts to make her thing out on the sidewalk. She is not satisfied with her first project. She makes another and another until she gets frustrated and mad. Her dog decides that it is time for her to take him for a walk. As they walk around the neighborhood, she begins to feel better. As they come back home, she sees all the things she had made lined up on the sidewalk. She starts to see what she had did wrong and proceeds to make her magnificent thing. She finally accomplishes what she was hoping for, a scooter with a bucket seat for her dog to sit in. It’s a story about not giving up to something you are trying to create.
